The redevelopment of Ditton Park Academy school consisted of a main building and a sports hall. Both of these buildings required a heating solution that would meet varied demand. Ideal Commercial’s Imax Xtra EL and Evomax (now Evomax 2) wall hung and floor standing boilers were chosen thanks to the boilers’ small footprints, efficiencies, outputs and energy usage.
The Best Heating Solution For Secondary Schools
Ditton Park Academy school is a secondary school in Slough. Its recent redevelopment allows it to accommodate up to 1,100 pupils and staff. Both the main building and sports hall needed a reliable, efficient heating system. The most appropriate solution was to choose two different boiler types to suit the needs of the two separate buildings.
Lorne Stewart PLC were appointed to complete the mechanical and electrical works on this project. Having already worked with Ideal Commercial on several occasions, Lorne Stewart knew they could rely on the team to deliver the right heating solution.
Ideal Commercial’s Imax Xtra EL and Evomax boilers were chosen, predominantly due to spatial constraints within the school’s plant rooms.
Enjoying Enhanced Efficiency With Ideal’s Imax Xtra EL
Imax Xtra EL boilers were used in the main building as there was a bigger load for the heating demand and hot water services. The Imax Xtra EL boilers deliver a range of benefits:
- Large outputs - up to 620kW outputs as a single unit or 1240kW outputs as a dual unit
- High efficiencies up to 109.8% part load at 30% output
- Low NOx Class 6 performance for maximum points on the BREEAM scale
- Compatibility with a range of kits for added control
- A compact size - particularly beneficial for challenging installations
As the main building’s plant room is situated on the roof, a crane needed to be brought in to lift up the boilers for their installation. A compact yet reliable boiler was needed to ensure installation could go ahead, whilst still delivering a strong performance once fitted and in use.
Easy Installation with Ideal Commercial’s Evomax
Our Evomax boilers are particularly suitable for challenging plant rooms as they can come with prefabricated Frame and Header kits. Evomax boilers offer in-line and back-to-back cascade options of up to six boilers, which allows them to minimise their footprint and produce a strong total output. In this case, the maximum output was 120kW though Evomax 2 cascades can now produce outputs of up to 900kW.
Two Evomax boilers were installed in the school’s sports hall. As the boilers came with a Frame and Header kit which was prefabricated off site, the installation was made much easier.
